Sharon Wareing is a pencil, oil and watercolor artist whose passions for life and art are seen in her work.
Painting started at the age of 11 in an oil-painting class. Her desire to create has been enriched by learning from Willie Wong (from whom Sharon received watercolor lessons), Gene Procop (who teaches old masters type oil painting), and many other workshops and teachers.
Sharon has been a member of the Art Society of Strathcona County for 10 years, and a member of the Society of Western Canadian Artists for 5 years. She was a member of the Art Acquisition Council from 1997-1998. She has participated in juried and small group shows throughout Alberta, and at Kamena Gallery. Her paintings have been purchased by Strathcona County, and are in numerous private collections in England, Western Canada, and the USA. One of her wildlife paintings was awarded first prize in the juried Alberta show of the Winter Games 2000.
Sharon leads a varied life; as an artist, and an Animal Health Technologist, Sharon can be found in her studio painting, teaching oil painting to beginners, or out on the family elk ranch tending to the animals (usually with a camera on hand to catch the interesting moments).
